Michael Jordan is a basketball legend and a billionaire with a lucrative deal with Nike, the sportswear giant producing his signature shoe line, the Air Jordan. Jordan signed with Nike in 1984, was a rookie in the NBA, and launched his sub-brand, the Jordan Brand, in 1997. He is still involved in the creative direction and strategy of the brand, which sells sneakers, apparel, and accessories.
According to various sources, Jordan makes an estimated $130 million to $150 million annually from Nike’s Air Jordan Brand today. That is about 5% of the total revenue that the brand generates, which was reportedly over $4.8 billion in 2021. That means Nike earns about $3 million every five hours from the Jordan Brand alone.
Jordan’s earnings from Nike are more than double his entire NBA career earnings, just under $94 million. He also became the first player to sign a deal worth more than $20 million per season when he signed two one-year contracts with the Chicago Bulls for $30.1 million and $33.1 million in 1996 and 1997, respectively
